The Little Prince

I am a reader.  I read at any chance I get, it doesn’t matter if it is fiction, non-fiction, historical, futuristic, romance, thriller, or anything else under the sun.  If it is words on a page, I have to get my hands on it and pour through it.  This might explain why I am doing another book post when I just did one on Friday.  I can’t help myself, I just have to.  This is my favorite book of all time.  The below photo is my actual 1968 copy of Antoine de Saint Exupéry’s La Petit Prince, or The Little Prince

This is one of my most treasured possessions.  I have started purchasing copies of this book wherever I see it and currently have about 6 copies, including one I bought in New York a few weeks ago.  What I wouldn’t give to get my hands on an original 1943 copy.  As a child I would carry this small book in my pocket or purse and read it over and over again.  I couldn’t get enough of the The Little Prince and the Pilot and their journey through the sky as they discussed love and loneliness and sheep and asteroids.  The profoundness and insight of this book astonish me and teach me everytime I pick this book up, but I could also understand it as a child which is part of the genius of it and shows how Antoine knew how to connect to the heart of a child.  I cannot explain in words my deep love for this story and it’s simple illustrations, the style of which I have not seen anywhere else.

Today I have decided to express my love through fashion influenced by the beautiful artwork of the greatest book ever written.  Please enjoy my interpretations of The Little Prince through clothing and self expression.

If you have never experienced the joy of reading this book for the first time, I encourage you to take the time to do it now.  It will be time well spent – it will strip you of your adult responsibilities and give you the freedom to be carefree like a child again, I can promise you that.  If you have had the pleasure of allowing the words of this story to wash through your mind and soul, it’s probably time to let The Little Prince do it again.
