The kids had the day off of school, so we had a slow morning and then went on a nature walk in the afternoon. The weather was cool and a very rare overcast day. We headed to the South Platte River where there are some gorgeous old trees that the kids could climb on. If you know Colorado at all, you know that large trees are pretty sparse anywhere outside of the mountains. The kids loved to actually be able to climb up, up, and up, but Gemma got a little scared anytime she climbed higher than 4 feet:)
Hanging and bouncing on this tree limb was fun until…
Oooops. Don’t worry, Guini didn’t get hurt – she thought it was pretty funny.
The sun finally peeked out from behind the clouds and we all threw rocks in the river for awhile. I still find it so satisfying and fun to throw rocks in the water! After a round of soccer and football, we headed to McDonald’s cause sometimes you just need a little soft serve – am I right?

LOVE these photos. I always think the fallen or leaveless trees are so sculptural, so beautiful. Then then as backdrop to your family? Exquisite. xxoo

It was a lot of fun! We need to get out there more often – even when it’s cold outside:)
