Good morning lovelies! We are so happy it’s Friday and Stephanie May* is ecstatic that her hubby is back from Austria! It’s getting colder in our amazing state – and you know what that means…

Yep – I saw two mice in my house the other day. They weren’t as cute as this one but I do always feel guilty for killing them – I’m an animal person, what can I say? I’ll let you in on a little secret about Stephanie May*….she hates mice. And I mean screaming-and-jumping-and-getting-out-of-the-room HATES them. I’m sure she’ll be thrilled with my photo choice for today on our blog:)
On another note – some mice I would love to have in my house are these super cute ones from Mouse Trap Vintage.

Aren’t they so cute?! I especially love the yellow one – she wants to ride around with me in my pocket. Oh and I also think she would like to hang out with Oliver – don’t you agree?

Happy weekend dears!

I found one of these old wire hanging garden baskets at a thrift store for $1. It is similar to the one above from de Epoca, but has a hole in the bottom that I thought would be the perfect size for a light bulb!

Ta-dah! It’s amazing how turning something upside down and spray-painting it robin’s egg blue can completely transform an object. Since it has the “shape” of a lamp shade, but no actual shade, it casts really bright light around the room, which I love.

Speaking of love. Tristan is coming home today, and I can’t wait to see him! The 8 days we spent apart actually went by rather quickly, and I got to talk to him everyday on video chat, so that helped a lot. I made a whole list of projects and activities to keep me and the kids busy while he was gone, but of course, I only got through a few of them:)
What are you up to this month? Any cute DIY costumes being made?

For a long time in my life, I thought when people said it was “Hump Day” – they were talking about something inappropriate. Now whether that was just my naivete or a reflection on the types of people saying it, I don’t know. I like to think it was no fault of my own that I believed these people would be trying to corrupt my brain with this so-called “Hump Day” but I suppose that doesn’t really matter.
Now we all know, or we do now that I have enlightened you – that “Hump Day” is Wednesday and it refers to the fact that if you can get through this specific day, you are past the hump in your week and the rest should be a breeze. Although that is not always true, if it makes people feel better to think it – then think on! Even though I now know what “Hump Day” is – (are you getting tired of my quotations yet? I am.) – the term still bothers me and I don’t particularly enjoy it when people say it. It brings me back to what I thought it meant originally and hearing it is one of my pet peeves.
Today I am deciding to change that(and the term) and call this “Jump Day”. Why not? Random jumping is fantastic and I think everyone should take part.

Even boys can get involved.
(All photos from lookbook.nu)
Doesn’t it look fun?! You know you want to try it. Wouldn’t it be amazing if people all over the world were jumping randomly on Wednesdays? I think it would make me ecstatic and I would cheer in the streets if I saw someone walking along and jump into the air suddenly. It would make my day – so if you ever see me in the streets on a Wednesday, do it for me(and for everyone else who hates the term “Hump Day”) and give a little hop.
***Oh and not speaking of giveaways…we are doing another one!! An awesome Etsy shop has donated some stinkin fantastic napkin rings for our giveaway that is running through Sunday night so head here and leave us a comment!***
Happy Jump Day!!!

Hooray for golden fall days. The sun has still been blaring the past few days, but today is chilly, rainy, and wonderful. I can’t wait to get a latte from Starbucks, make popcorn, and watch It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown (again) with my kids.

Speaking of movies, I watched All the real girls last night, and really enjoyed it, but watching a love story made me miss my guy very much. This is the longest we have ever been apart (8 days), but I only have 2.5 days until he is mine all mine again – yay yay yay!

Saw these photos today on the Anthropologie FaceBook page, and I felt love, admiration, and a little nausea while contemplating this process. It reminds me a little too much of a project I took on earlier this year, that made me and my sewing machine “break up” for about a month afterwards. I do love these though, and I think my favorite part about them is the hanging threads. I might have to try my hand…

The window is in Omaha, NE, and it is their new fall window display. Who knew there was so much creativity going on in Omaha? I sure didn’t.
*Guess what, guess what? You’re in for a special treat today because we will be posting a GIVEAWAY this afternoon! Be sure to come back and enter to win something really really awesome! You won’t be disappointed.

Hi kids! Welcome to another wonderful Monday where we each hand pick our favorite Etsy merchandise. This week’s theme: the mustache. Isn’t it grand? Oh, and be sure to come back tomorrow to enter in our new giveaway from a spectacular (and familiar) Etsy seller. So much fun!
May’s Etsy Picks:

The mustache on a stick phenomenon has been popular for a couple years now, but anyone who has studied up on it’s origin knows that Something’s Hiding in Here is completely responsible for the onset. Beautiful, crazy fun. Love!

Crayons! I need these to display, but not to use! How could I ever ruin these beauties?

Wear your mustache on your sleeve.

Mustache robots.

(The original “Mustache on a Stick” by Something’s Hiding in Here, crayons from My Friend Emily, vintage cookie jar from Winkin Possum, long sleeve shirt by One Fine Stache, stud earrings from Isette, card by Ebee Paperie, t shirt from PartyBots, drinking glasses by Modern Madness, booties from Pleasantly Plump Knits, art print by Nan Lawson)
Dae’s Etsy Picks:

You absolutely have no idea that I am standing here spying on you…no idea at all.

A bird with a mustache? No, there’s nothing strange going on here.

Pretty sure I need this.

(Mr. Bearington by Sparkle Power, Incognito print from Ashley G, Mustache props from Whisker Works, Mr. Mustache tote bag by Sirena con Jersey, Leather billfold from Robbie Moto, The bird with the moustache by Petit and Cute Design, Stacking mugs from Uptown Avenue, Matryoshka Mustache by Moomooka, Headband incognito by Love Elycia, Cross-stitch necklace by Nea Wear)

Today has been one of those mornings – the kind where you wake up late but desperately need to stop by Starbucks on your way to work and upon arriving at said work…your brain kicks in and you remember that you didn’t write and/or even think of ideas to blog about for the day. Do you ever have mornings like that? Well apparently I do, and this morning has been one of them. However rushed my day has been so far, I am actually in good spirits because it’s Friday and my half day at work and who wouldn’t be in a good mood because of that??
Today – happiness is in the form of the Fall 2010 collection from J. Crew that was inspired by none other than Edie Bouvier Beale of whom Stephanie May* and I have a slight love for(read – obsession). Grey Gardens anyone?

Edith is inspiring and I think this collection is pretty brilliant. It may just have to be my model for Fall fashion this year.

Yep, it’s settled…it’s Friday and I’m in love.

Tonight is Episode 11 on Project Runway, and I can’t wait! It’s been a surprisingly good season, considering Seasons 6 and 7 were kind of a snooze fest and hardly worth mentioning. I will try to keep everything hush hush for those of you that haven’t started watching this season yet (ahem, Stormie Dae), but one of my favorite designers was eliminated last week, and I am still pouty lipped about it. I am hoping that she will elbow her way back in tonight when they bring all of the eliminated designers back! I am also hoping that Micheal C, Gretchen, and Christopher are on their way out…and soon.
I am really loving color in fashion lately, and Mondo Guerra is definitely one of my favorite designers this season, so how could I not love his use of color:

That being said, I am almost always drawn back to black, and I can’t help but love it more than color…most of the time. I mean, just look at these:

Valerie Mayen’s napkin dress. Yes, this dress is made out of NAPKINS.

April Johnston’s resort look. I am not a beach girl, but this is just plain gorgeous.

Andy South’s ribbon dress. Ummm, yeah – ribbon. Incredible.

Christopher Collins’ look for the Philip Treacy hat challenge. Now I know that I just said that Christoper needs to leave, but this piece is the exception. Breathtaking.
Is anyone else watching this season? Who are your favorites? Any designer that you think needs to go home?

Hello lovelies! It’s the middle of the week and in our fair state, today is FINALLY going to feel like Fall! I’m crossing my fingers that the predicted 67 degree high will be a reality. It’s a happy happy day for MayDae! (except maybe that Stephanie May’s hubby is leaving the country for a week today….but other than that!)
We had a very busy weekend that included a birthday party, thrift shopping, a couple MayDae photo shoots and a trip to the Horseshoe Craft and Flea Market in the Denver area on Saturday morning. Stephanie May* and I love attending markets because it gives us a chance to find businesses we didn’t know about previously, and it’s also a great place for ideas. We had a great time and saw some really lovely things – here are some of our photos from that morning:

Starbucks is always a must at these types of things…or any type of things.

According to their site, Horseshoe is hoping to bring this market back as a monthly event starting next Spring and going into Fall…maybe, just maybe Stephanie May* and I will think about setting up a little MayDae section at one or two. Would you come visit us?

Hello friends! Make way for an ultra short post, as my husband Tristan is leaving tomorrow morning for a week. He is going to Austria, and I will be staying behind with our 3 kiddos. I will miss him terribly and I am trying to get as much “we” time in as possible in the next 12 hours!

Adorable.
More soon!
